Structural reform required in favor of the binary vocational training
Alexander Prischl about the situation in Austria and Vienna

/cc/img/pool/dcp_2423_wien.jpg The binary vocational training is considered as one of the basic pillars of the Austrian education system. 40% of one age group choose the binary system providing school and enterprise as training centres. However, despite public promotion the formation supply of the companies decreases. At the same time the economy's demand for qualified specialists becomes more intensive. Due to the decreasing formation supply and the sinking formation quality of the companies more and more young persons turn to the middle and higher professional training schools, which in their turn meet with the limits of their capacities. Former compensating measures were abolished and the government does not offer any alternative. Therefore the resumption of reliable measures and the introduction of new comprehensive measures for the promotion of the binary formation system are required.
