Theses from the contribution of M.D. Nagaitsew
Moscow Trade Union Federation (MTUF)

/cc/img/pool/nagaitsew.jpg The chairman of the MTUF, colleague Nagaitsew, reported that the Russian youth policy has been substantially modified during the past years. The rate of drug addicted young people is still far higher than the European average. Moscow comprises 1.5 millions inhabitants aged between 15-29 years (20 % of the population), some of them facing serious problems taking the first step into working live. There are 4000 national and private educational facilities in Moscow, among them 71 universities comprising 900,000 students.

The Moscow trade unions intensively focus on youth problems. Thus large youth meetings and festivals and job stock exchanges for students are organized. Furthermore a lack of political education of the young people is realized, that is why the Moscow trade unions want to create a youth education place with the support of the DGB district Berlin Brandenburg. Although an appropriate Tecis request unfortunately has been rejected by the European Commission, the Moscow trade unions still work on the implementation.
